While we wrestle with our national debt and the prospect that our economy may not rebound soon, the international push to regulate every aspect of our lives through Marxist collectivism presses forward. The environmental fascists at the United Nations climate conference held in South Africa this week put forward plans to hold every nation and person on Earth responsible for “climate change.” Their proposals should alarm every sovereign individual, especially those in richer nations like the United States.

The first holds that a “climate court” be created to enforce arbitrary rules concerning cutting “emissions.” In this scheme, developed countries would pay fines to compensate poorer countries for a “climate debt.” This is sure to set your blood boiling and pressure pounding. Why is this so dangerous? The climate court denies the sovereignty of the United States (as well other nations, such as the UK and Australia), making our nation subject to the whims of foreign administrators. It overturns the Constitution, creating an international law to override American law. It affords none of the protections in the Bill of Rights, instead converting individualism to collectivism. Essentially, it is a way to steal money from productive people in the name of “compassion.” Supposing even that such a court had some merit (which it does not), what guarantee would even the poorer nations have that such stolen money would reach them? But here we speculate whether thieves will have honor.

To sweeten the pot, the document calls for developed countries to help poorer countries with “finance, technology and capacity building,” ostensibly to bring them into competition with richer countries and into compliance with the United Nations. A veritable utopia! The game is quite obvious. The poorer nations are “victims” while the richer nations are “oppressors.” The United Nations, or whoever would take credit for the creation of such a court, is the “savior.” This is Marxism, pure and simple.

Further language claims that the developing countries should receive an amount of money equal to the sum “developed countries spend on defense, security and warfare.” The first thing to notice is that a choice is given. Either these developed countries will export a huge amount of “compensation” to the lesser nations, or else the amount spent on “defense, security and warfare” must be greatly reduced. Guess which side of the decision the developers of this plan hope to force? As a matter of record (just in case you doubted it), the document actually calls for a guaranteed end to warfare altogether, noting that “conflict-related activities emit significant greenhouse gas emissions” and calling on all parties to “cease destructive activities” (warfare).

The second proposal asserts the “rights of mother earth.” As a man of belief, I know who is God, and it is not “mother earth.” Nor do I believe that the Earth has rights that supersede those of man. God told man that the Earth and all upon it was subject to man. This means we are stewards for God’s sake, but it is not up to the United Nations to enforce such stewardship. This type of coercion has nothing to do with serving God but is instead mandating slavery to other men.

Fortunately, even climate change proponents don’t see a climate court coming anytime soon. In addition, a handful of our elected officials do understand how preposterous and dangerous this is and are standing up for American sovereignty and our Constitution. Although we must each be good stewards of the Earth, I believe “global warming” to be a hoax intended to rob us further of national and personal freedom and wealth.

We must realize that this is just one more battle in the eternal struggle of good versus evil. In pursuit of world domination, the tyrants and elitists who would steal our liberty never sleep. Individual freedom can only be preserved by the constant vigilance and vigorous resistance of patriots and statesmen.

Earlier this week, North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue suggested that congressional elections be suspended for two years (full audio here).Perdue said, “I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that.”

Perhaps Governor Perdue should familiarize herself with the United States Constitution, Article I, Section 2, which states:

“The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature.”

The Constitution requires elections for the U.S. House of Representatives every other year. Why does this matter? Because Governor Perdue and all politicians of all parties have sworn an oath to “uphold and defend” the U.S. Constitution.

In 2010, Governor Perdue witnessed the Republican Party take control of the North Carolina Legislature for the first time in more than 140 years. With 2012 just around the corner, Perdue must be feeling vulnerable and exposed. Desperate to maintain access to as many votes as possible, legal or illegal, Perdue recently vetoed voter ID legislation that would have discouraged voter fraud. Apparently, she’s now decided skipping congressional elections altogether in 2012 is best for everyone, especially her own job security.

Tea Party and other Patriot groups are organizing a rally on Saturday, October 1st at 11:00am at the Governor’s Mansion in Raleigh at 200 N Blount Street. The message to the governor will be clear. By her own words and deeds . . . Perdue’s days as our state executive are numbered.

If you cannot make it to the rally, consider other creative ways to show your support, such as facebook, twitter, letters to the editor and emails, letters and faxes to our elected officials. Grassroots across America unite, speak with one voice and tell President Obama and Governor Perdue that “We the People” of North Carolina believe in the United States Constitution, the Rule of Law, Liberty and our inalienable right to vote.

The Democratic National Committee has chosen Charlotte, NC as the location of its 2012 national convention. North Carolina is a battle ground state. . . For those who want to turn our country around, those who believe in constitutional government and those who want to protect our liberties, are we up for the fight? 2012 will be a critical year for America’sfuture. We can do this!

Asheville, NC – September 27, 2011. Dr. Dan Eichenbaum was pleased to receive a statement today from Representative Virginia Foxx, NC 5, in support of H.R.2913, sponsored by Colorado Rep. Mike Coffman (R). The bill will amend Title 5 of the United States Code to provide for the termination of further retirement benefits for members of Congress, except the right to continue participating in the Thrift Savings Plan.

Eichenbaum says, “For far too long, members of congress have lived off the taxpayers’ backs inside the beltway completely isolated from the taxpayers and with little understanding of the reality of life back home. In difficult economic times like today, each of us needs to exercise personal thrift and sacrifice. We must demand the same of our elected officials. They should be required to participate in Social Security just like the rest of us.”

“We send what appear to be honest, hard-working citizen-representatives to Washington, where they become entrenched in special interest money and favors for votes. Over the years and regardless of constituent dissatisfaction, it becomes virtually impossible to get rid of them.” Eichenbaum says Congress has a 10% approval rating but 94% of incumbents get re-elected. “Presidential term limits were enacted with enthusiasm after FDR’s reign. Congressional term limits are necessary and desirable today for the same reason. A constitutional amendment to impose term limits on congress would require those guys up there to vote themselves out of a job, and that’s just not going to happen.”

Eichenbaum is the first candidate of 2012 to self-impose term limits by signing the Alliance for Bonded Term Limits Pledge, legally and financially obligating him to pay $500,000 to the Moore County Sentinels of Freedom should he not keep his promise. “The founders intended statesmen and women would go to Washington, do the limited work of the federal government and then come back home to their real jobs and live by the same rules they helped to enact,” Eichenbaum said.

In an earlier post on the debt ceiling, I asked if you could recall where you were when a “sentinel event” such as the bombing of Perl Harbor, assassination of JFK or the terrorist attacks of 9-11 occurred. These incidents had a profound effect on life in America, for both our national psyche and for each of us personally.

On August 2, 2011, without any significant cuts in the level of federal spending, the Senate voted by a wide margin in favor of a bill already passed by the House to raise the debt ceiling. A modern day sentinel event . . . . Where were you?

Not many were surprised when the credit rating of our country was subsequently downgraded. Who wouldn’t question the creditworthiness of a business that had to borrow funds to meet its weekly accounts payable at the same time it was sponsoring all-expense-paid employee and management conferences at a five star resort in the Swiss Alps? What financial institution wouldn’t be hesitant to loan additional money to a person or entity whose debts equaled the size of their gross yearly income? It is amazing that a downgrade didn’t happen months ago to an even lower level than our current rating of AA+.

Where were you when, at the direction of the Obama administration, the Progressives in Congress and their sycophants in the media obediently linked failing to raise the Debt Ceiling to certain “Default” with catastrophic consequences? We heard them say over and over again . . . Only 14 days to default . . . eight days to default . . .three days to default . . . two hours to default. It was as if we were watching a horse race instead of a diabolically orchestrated ruse to placate and distract citizens who are otherwise oblivious to the economic disaster that awaits our nation.

Where were you when, out of cowardice, malice, ignorance, and/or reelection concerns, Congress abdicated its authority by failing to remove and destroy the government’s credit card? Republicans in Congress had the unique opportunity to just say “NO” to deficit spending and force a return to fiscal responsibility, a basic tenet of conservative philosophy and economic sanity. Unfortunately, we witnessed capitulation instead of courage. Now the wolves of the world, China, Russia, and associated opportunists, salivate with resurgent vigor waiting to devour what they hope will be the carcass of a weakened America.

Although government revenue estimates vary, it is clear that the monthly income of the federal government would have been sufficient to cover the interest on the public debt, military salaries, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid payments with additional funds left over for discretionary items on a prioritized basis. Under similar circumstances, any responsible family would allocate funds first for debt obligation and necessities, delaying discretionary expenditures for better days (a Caribbean cruise is definitely not on the list).

Pain is a necessary component of reformation. Our founding fathers bravely accepted the pain of present circumstance to spare future generations a worse fate . . . our country is hanging by a thread over a financial abyss . . . and Obama and his Progressive minions are running toward it with scissors in hand.

Trust in Freedom

Sentinel events arise in everyone’s personal history like a volcano in the middle of a barren plain – obvious and undeniable. I was taking a music composition course in the bell tower on the quadrangle at the University of Michigan when President Kennedy was shot. As the giant bells inexplicably began to toll, the date and time were etched forever in my memory. While an intern at Yale-New Haven Hospital, I watched Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon from the house staff break room. And on an otherwise ordinary morning in September 2001, I watched, horrified, a small TV screen in my office in Murphy as the Twin Towers fell.

As critical as each of those moments were in our nation’s history, we are now witnessing an event of much greater significance to the future of America and generations to come. Our legislators in Washington are entangled in debate about our national debt, a runaway train out of control, while the debt ceiling looms like a steel blockade at the end of the line.

Forget blame. It’s immaterial. Our national decline began when, in complete contravention to the Constitution and the accumulated knowledge of the founders, our government took money away from one group of citizens and gave it to another to buy votes and increase power. Emboldened by the lack of public outrage, the governing class continues to solidify its hegemony by creating a power base of willing recipients who have both voting rights and zero liability.

Instead of making hard choices based on principle, members of congress, with few exceptions, concoct legislative schemes that balance dollars saved against votes lost in an effort to ensure re-election rather than the fiscal solvency of our nation. In essence, we are participants in a circus high wire act without a net. As our rulers carefully inch across the abyss below, we must understand that our nation can only survive if they fall.

The provisions in our Constitution designed to protect our freedoms and Natural Law rights have been circumvented and ignored by those who would enslave us all under the guise of saving humanity from itself. Congress has become nothing more than a spineless rubber stamp doing the bidding of this self-anointed ruling class of elitist intellectuals and financial power brokers who desire to leave us with only the illusion of freedom while protecting their own self interests.

In 1775, the leaders of the colony of Virginia met secretly in Richmond. Present were Thomas Jefferson, the pen of the revolution, Patrick Henry, the voice of the revolution, and George Washington, the sword of the revolution. Some wanted to beg and appease King George again for relief and justice.

That is when Patrick Henry stood up and proclaimed, “I know not what course others may take, but, as for me, give me liberty or give me death.”

The battle over the Debt Ceiling is the sentinel event of our generation.

If Congress capitulates on this issue, only True Patriots will be left to fight for our personal liberties and the American way of life.

I stand with Patrick Henry. Where will you be when that happens?

Trust in Freedom
Dr. Dan Eichenbaum
